What is TRIAD?
TRIAD is an association of three -- law enforcement, seniors, and community organizations -- dedicated to the well being of seniors. The goals of TRIAD are to educate, to assist, to communicate, and to involve. The idea of TRIAD was first implemented in 1988 when representatives from AARP, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the National Sheriffs Association (NSA) came together and agreed to partner to reduce crime against the elderly and to minimize their fear. In 1989 the first TRIAD was created in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.
What about INDIANA TRIAD?
INDIANA TRIAD, a loosely structured organization, grew out of the need to provide a central source of information, advice, and direction for the increasing number of TRIADs within the state. The Indiana Attorney General and his staff consistently encouraged and supported the INDIANA TRIAD throughout its decade of service, during which 19 counties organized local TRIADs, either independently or in conjunction with another county.
What is INDIANA ASSOCIATION of TRIADS?
In June of 2005, the INDIANA ASSOCIATION of TRIADs was created out of the restructured INDIANA TRIAD. The IAT’s mission statement --
“To support and enhance the individual TRIADs by fulfilling and expanding their mission to improve the quality of life and to eliminate the victimization of senior adults”
-- was approved by the voting members. An Executive Board was then selected according to the division of the state into North, Central, and South regions.
What is NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of TRIADS, INC.?
